OBS vs Rapidemo
OBS and Rapidemo are built for different jobs. OBS is the free, streaming-first recorder for technical users who want manual control over every scene, source and encoder. Rapidemo is built for polished, publishable screen videos with automatic zoom animations, cursor smoothing and animated layouts, no editing skills required. Here is how Rapidemo compares to OBS.Free to record and edit. License unlocks export.
Rapidemo edits and animates your recording for you
Rapidemo is purpose-built for polished, publishable video. It automatically zooms in on clicks, smooths the cursor, generates subtitles and animates layout transitions, all without leaving the app.
Automatic zoom on clicks
Rapidemo automatically creates smooth zoom animations from your clicks while you record. OBS doesn't include zoom animation.
Cursor smoothing
Rapidemo turns shaky mouse movement into a pleasant, smooth glide automatically. OBS records the cursor motion exactly as it happens.
Animated layouts
Cut your video and pick a layout per clip: side-by-side, camera overlay, fullscreen. Transitions animate smoothly. OBS doesn't include animated layout transitions.
Animated subtitles in one click
Transcribe your audio and add subtly animated subtitles to your video. OBS has no built-in captioning or transcription.
Customize without learning a new tool
Rapidemo's timeline editor lets you adjust animations, switch aspect ratios, customize the background and tune all effects, no professional editing experience required.
Built-in timeline editor
Tweak animations, cut your video, change the background and adjust everything in Rapidemo's editor. OBS is a recorder, not an editor.
Switch aspect ratios in one click
Preview landscape, portrait and square video without re-editing. Rapidemo adjusts all animations and layouts automatically. OBS doesn't include multi-aspect-ratio export.
Animated camera overlay
Add your webcam and let Rapidemo scale it down smoothly during zoom animations to reveal more of the screen recording.

- You're recording gameplay or technical content where free, unlimited recording matters more than automatic polish.
- You're comfortable editing in a separate application.
If you'd rather skip the manual setup and get a polished, publishable video straight from the recording, Rapidemo does the editing and animation for you.
